Definition of bi-directional (sorting)

bi-directional (sorting)
1.  Refers to the way the sorting occurs in two directions, from top to bottom then from bottom to top, repeated until the sorting job is completed. Generally applies only to mechanical sorts on analog copiers, though some digitals use the same types of sorters.
