Definition of blanking lamp

blanking lamp
1.  In an analog copier, lamps or LEDs, whose job it is to discharge the unused sections of the drum surface, during the copy process. The light source for this will strike the drum after the charge corona and exposure lamp and before the developer roller applies toner to the drum.
