Definition of counter

counter

1.  Standard counter on machine to keep count of total copies run. Copiers will usually have either a mechanical or electrical counter (or both). Printers usually have an electrical counter but will display the page count on test prints. Fax machines may do one of these or they may have no counter at all. Typically all copiers (except some personal copiers will have counters. There are also counters (in some cases) that will count specific functions; document feeder use, number of scans, 17 inch copies, etc.
