Definition of developer

developer
1.  In a dual component system, developer is the carrier of toner to the photoconductor. Typically, replaced by the technician periodically. Usually iron powder (with toner premixed). Also sometimes described as starter. Iron (usually; occasionally glass) particles that carry the toner onto the magnetic roller and hold it until the latent image draws it off.
