Definition of resolution

resolution
1.  Resolution is the number of individual points of color, or pixels, contained on a display monitor, expressed in terms of the number of pixels on the horizontal axis and the number on the vertical axis.
More Information:
The number of dots per inch that make up an image. The higher the number, the finer the quality. Examples of common resolutions include 1024 x 768, 1280 x 1024, and 1920 x 1080.
